FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Everything you need to know before choosing an SSL certificate. Still unsure? OneCloud's local team can help you pick, order, and install the right one.
What does an SSL certificate do?
It encrypts the connection between your website and its visitors, shows the padlock in the browser, and removes the "Not secure" warning. Visitors expect it before they fill a form, log in, or pay, so it protects the sale, not just the connection.
What is the difference between DV and EV validation?
Domain Validation (DV) confirms you control the domain and issues within minutes, with no paperwork. Extended Validation (EV) is the most thorough level: the certificate authority verifies your company's legal identity, giving visitors the highest level of trust. Both use the same strong encryption; what changes is how much of your identity is checked.
Which certificate do I need?
For a single website, PositiveSSL (DV) is enough. Choose PositiveSSL Multi-Domain to cover several separate domains on one certificate, PositiveSSL Wildcard to cover a domain and all of its subdomains, or PositiveSSL EV when you need a verified company identity for payments or regulated sites.
How long does it take to issue?
The DV certificates (PositiveSSL, Multi-Domain, and Wildcard) are usually issued within 10 to 15 minutes, once you confirm control of the domain. PositiveSSL EV takes 1 to 5 business days, because the certificate authority verifies your company first.
What is a wildcard certificate?
A wildcard secures a domain and all of its first-level subdomains, such as shop.company.ma, app.company.ma, and mail.company.ma, under one certificate. You never need a new certificate when you add a subdomain, which keeps a growing site simple to manage.
What is the warranty, and how does it work?
The warranty is a guarantee from the certificate authority that covers losses if the certificate is ever mis-issued. It reassures the auditors and partners who check your setup. PositiveSSL certificates include a $50,000 warranty, and PositiveSSL EV includes $1,000,000.
How do renewals, billing, and support work?
Certificates are valid for one year and billed locally in MAD. OneCloud sends a reminder before expiry and helps you validate, install, reissue, and renew, so your site never falls back to an insecure warning. You can install the certificate yourself, or let our local team handle it as part of your setup.
